Our Vision:
Legacy Farm Builders believes that the farmstead lifestyle that once dominated the Minnesota landscape should be preserved for future generations. This is a lifestyle rich in stories, traditions, and history. As urban development encroaches onto once-productive farmland, the farmstead way of life is disappearing, yielding to mass housing and strip malls. Our goal is to preserve the architecture, culture, and contributions that these sustainable farms provide by re-creating them in a form that also satisfies contemporary housing demands.
We commit ourselves to the preservation of this farmstead legacy in all phases of our property developments.
The Site:
Legacy Farm Builders preserves large acreage sites to prevent the fragmenting of the landscape, to maximize the view of surrounding countryside and to preserve natural beauty. We make a careful, deliberate selection of building sites, considering the character of the community and its environmental consciousness, local zoning ordinances and their impact on the land, and the interest of the farmstead owners, neighbors and the larger community. Locations also provide proximity to convenient amenities for the homeowner. Our sites feature winding driveways, seclusion, wildlife habitat, and complete, mature landscaping.
The Farmstead:
Legacy Farm Builders' architecture plans are based on the vision of the classic, vintage Midwest farmstead while incorporating amenities for today's active lifestyle. Our farmsteads are comprised of a traditionally-styled farm home, gabled-roofed "lifestyle" barn, full-scale windmill, and a silo with signature checkerboard concrete staves.
The Architecture:
Legacy Farm Builders incorporates the distinctive architectural details typical of a Midwest farm home: graceful, but practical styling and old world craftsmanship. We use low maintenance materials such as James Hardie siding, beautiful handcrafted cabinetry, and native materials when possible. Our historically-styled homes feature gabled rooflines, full porches, balconies, bay windows, tall farm-style windows, open site-lines, and what we consider the heart of a farm home — a large, family-style kitchen with pantry.
Family Values:
Many of us grew up on a farm or in a farming community and recall the spring planting and fall harvest that anchored the seasons. Some seek a sanctuary away from our fast-paced world. Many still return to the family farm for holiday gatherings with friends and family to continue the traditions that have been a part of the Midwest history. We create homes where tradition and sanctuary can be experienced by generations to come.
We believe we are stewards of a treasured legacy. Our philosophy of stewardship includes quality in all building decisions, integrity in business relationships, and a desire to create a new and lasting legacy that will benefit the future and honor the past.
